Soul

They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul.
Then look into mine, and tell me. What do you see?
What can you perceive through these brown orbs
in my head?
Can you see a missing childhood?
Can you see shattered dream or dreams?
Can you see a child longing for his father, can you?
How about a drug ravaged mother?
Or an equally addicted stepfather
with a knack for beating on his stepfamily?
Can you see that? No! O.k. then look a little
harder, strain!
If not, then how about a broken heart,
torn out beating and thrown into a living sea
of people, to be stepped upon without mercy?
Can you see any of this or picture it in your
mind's eye?
What about a lone figure struggling to hold on to
a tiny fragment of hope that resembles a
normal life?
Can you!
I think not. You only see what I want you to see.
They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul.
What do you think? What do you say?
Well I for one say that my windows are closed.
