With Christ Is The Victory

Once an individual is saved life is not like a bed of roses as some might think. We all still face the same temptations that we did when we were lost. The old devil continues to work just as hard to make us mess up and damage our relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But, we cannot continue to give in to his tempting and to sin willingly. We have to turn away or repent of our sins and the easiest way to do so is to turn to the Lord for the victory. I'm sure we've all heard the old hymn that proclaims; "There's victory in Jesus, my Savior forever." We can claim the victory in Jesus and win the never-ending battle over sin.

We can read, time after time, in the scriptures and see how desperately the Lord wants His children to live holy lives. Romans 6:12: Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 1 Peter 1:15-16: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be Ye Holy; For I Am Holy. The Lord is an incredible role model for us to follow in the giant footsteps of. At times it may seem unreasonable for the Lord to expect so much of us as He is completely holy and His footsteps seem to smash our toes just a little. But, just remember; in Him is the great victory.

Some might consider it weak of one to depend so much upon the Lord. However, if we look to Him He is certain to make us a stronger Christian. Depending greatly upon the Lord doesn't make us weak, it strengthens our faith and deepens our relationship with Him, thus helping us to live holier lives. The Lord doesn't want His children to wage war on sin by themselves. In fact, the Lord wants us to depend on him. 1 Corinthians 10:13: There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. The Lord promises to provide an escape from the chains of sin that may bound us.

Oh, if we were all just willing to put off the old man of stubbornness and realize that we truly need the armor of God to win this war. The Lord will be our armor and protection. 2 Peter 2:9: The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished. This verse tells us of another great name for our Lord--Deliverer. He is able to deliver us and will but we must be inclined to look to Him for help and for our unpenetratable armor.

The Lord wants to set you and I free from sin. His grace is sufficient to do just that. Romans 6:14: For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. That, my friends, is where the victory comes from. It is by the grace of God that we can be victorious. I firmly believe that when our precious Savior was dying on the cross and cried, "It is finished," He was not only proclaiming that the plan of salvation was complete, but also that the battle over sin had been one. The final battle of the war was over and Christ and all of His followers could then claim victory over all appearances of evil. Praise the Lord!
